Paving Filler

What is paving filler?

Paving filler is a type of fill material used for road construction and other types of paved surfaces. It is made from recycled asphalt, stone or other aggregate materials.  There are many different types of paving fillings available. The most common types include gravel, sand, rock and recycled asphalt. Each type has its own characteristics.

Gravel
Gravel is composed of stones that are larger than 1/4 inch in diameter. The stones must be at least 3 inches in length and 2 inches in width. Gravel is also referred to as “grit”.

Sand
Sand is composed of fine particles. Sand is used in areas where water drainage is a problem. Sand can be used in place of gravel.

Rock
Rock is a natural stone that has been quarried. Rock is often used in areas where there is a lot of water drainage. Rock is also used in areas where there is an abundance of rock formations.

Recycled Asphalt
Recycled asphalt is made by recycling asphalt pavement. When stone and gravel are not available, recycled asphalt is used.

choosing the right filler

When choosing a paving filler, it is important to consider the type of surface you are building. For example, if you are building a parking lot, you should choose a type of filler that will hold up well to the wear and tear of vehicles.  If you are building a driveway, you should choose a type that will be resistant to weathering. You should also consider the type of vehicle traffic you will have on your property. If you plan to have a lot of heavy trucks, you should choose a filler that is strong enough to withstand the impact of these vehicles.

The material is typically available in bulk form. We sell our paving fillers per m3 with a minimum order quantity of 10m3.  These are usually delivered to your site in large truckloads.  It is therefore important to make sure you have adequate space for the material.

It is also important to remember that paving fillers are not waterproof.  They are only meant to absorb moisture.
